Katherine Chambers

Katherine (19) a Bangladeshi teen, living in a close-‐knit family struggles to be herself. Though Katherine is just four months into transitioning when we first meet her,

she is hiding it from her family to keep a roof over her head. She has always known she is a girl but explaining it to her traditional Muslim parents, who speak no English,

has been a challenge. There is no word for ‘transgender’ in Bengali, their native tongue. She loves her family and knows they love her but they won’t accept her as anything

but their son. Knowing she will never be loved as Katherine, she decides she must break away to be her true self.
